IntroductionFor volunteer members of Lloyd Morris Electrical Limited to undertake the Three Peaks Challenge in order to raise funds for support of Cancer treatment and research. The overall aim is to raise a minimum of £10,000 through promotion, sponsorship and fund raising, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Ron Smith Cancer Appeal charity, in the memory of the business’s founder and leader, Mr. Eric Lloyd Morris. In 2005 a number of individuals from Lloyd Morris Electrical Limited and Merlin Systems Limited will be training for and entering into the Three Peaks Challenge. The three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales must be climbed in one 24 hour period. Success! On the 18th June 2005, a band of walkers ascended Snowdon, Scafell Pyke and Ben Nevis in one 24 hour period. In the end the time was achieved without too much heartache, but with lots of very tired legs. Pictures and a description of the day will be available on the 'Complete' page in the next few days, when people have recovered enough to lift a pen! The PlanThe walkers will be split into two groups of 6. This will allow us to keep the groups tight and not lose anyone on the ascent or decent. In addition, four drivers will be driving the two mini-buses through the night, allowing the walkers to rest in between walks. Our plan is to start at Snowdon on Saturday morning, then drive up to Scafell for an afternoon ascent, and then drive up through the night to arrive at Ben Nevis before first light. When it become light enough to see, the final ascent will take place, with the walkers reaching the summit of Ben Nevis before 8am. We will be ascending Snowdon 8am 18th June, Scafell 3pm 18th June and Ben Nevis 3am 19th June. Wish us luck. Final PreparationMFM have been and interviewed some of the walkers and drivers and done a piece on the day before the challenge begins. During the walk, the morning radio show will be calling us to see how we are getting on, following our progress up Snowdon. Many thanks for the cakes courtesy of MFM! The routes are prepared, the drivers are getting familiar with the vehicles, stores are being loaded onto the buses.
